New Orleans, April 5-6, 2010: CERD Project REBOUND Resilience Drug Education Workshop

CERD's Resilience Drug Education (ResDrugEd) Workshops have received rave reviews. In 2007, CERD’s ResDrugEd model caught the attention of the Mentor Foundation, which aims to identify the most promising practices for drug misuse prevention, and disseminate this experience and knowledge internationally. Additionally, through a generous grant from the European Union (EU) the project will expand with partners throughout Europe. We will also bring this program to the U.S. CERD wants to invest in our young people in New Orleans for the long term. So, on April 5-6, 2010, we will be holding a 1.5. day preview of our REBOUND workshops, the first of our commitment to the NOLA area.

This workshop promises to be an exciting opportunity for those who appreciate youth development and supporting human resilience to experience the process of resilience when addressing youthful drug issues.

The workshop will be conducted by CERD facilitators.

During the workshop, CERD facilitators model experiences that you can use as an administrator, or in working with youth, families, or clients. It includes these key components:

Understanding resilience as a strengths-based orientation. What does resilience mean in your community, school, or practice?

A "nuts and bolts" blending of process activities, so that resilience is promoted, and a healthy process for making life-affirming decisions can be acquired and utilized.

The Resilience Education workshop is open to educators, administrators, helping professionals, researchers, or those interested in fostering resilience in their communities. Participation includes the workshop, materials, and luncheon. Registration is taken on a "first-come first serve" basis.
