(Berkeley, California) (4/13/05) -- The Center for Educational
Research and Development today announced it has received a second generous grant
from the Choice Hotels International Foundation, a tax-exempt entity established
by Choice Hotels International, Inc., (NYSE:CHH), one of the world's largest
lodging franchisors.
The grant given by the Choice Hotels International Foundation
will enable CERD to continue its outreach and services in a wide variety of
challenged communities. "This grant will provide CERD with much needed support
and enable the organization to carry out its philanthropic goals," said Chuck
Ledsinger, president and chief executive officer of Choice Hotels. "We hope
by our example to encourage other organizations and individuals to follow suit."
The Choice Hotels International Foundation, a tax-exempt
entity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, was established
in November, 1999 by Choice Hotels International to aid not-for-profit charitable
and educational organizations.
The Choice Hotels Foundation is charged with targeting
and coordinating Choice's financial support for groups that 1) provide shelter
and food to those in need; 2) promote the growth and development of tourism;
3) support the educational efforts of schools, workforce entry organizations
and the hospitality industry; and 4) enhance the quality of life in local communities
where Choice Hotels International has a presence.
